SKIMS Conducted Workshop on Latest Endoscopic Surgical Procedures

Srinagar 26/8/2015:  The Department of Gastroenterology SKIMS in association with ERBE India conducted workshop on “Third Space Endoscopy Procedures” (Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection ESD & EMR) here today. The procedures performed by Dr. Amul Bapaya leading Interventional Endoscopist   in GI endoscopy lab was beamed live to SKIMS Auditorium.

Dr. Amul in his presentation discussed in detail the concept of third space endoscopic procedures and highlighted the advantages of these minimal invasive procedures. These endoscopic techniques benefit patients being less invasive thereby avoiding major surgery and complications and help to detect and treat many cancerous lesions at initial stage, he added.

Director SKIMS Dr. S.A Zargar & Dean Faculty SKIMS and HOD Gastroenterology Dr. Gul Javid were present on occasion. Dr. Omar Javid Shah, HOD Surgical Gastroenterology chaired the session. The workshop was organized by the Department of Gastroenterology under the supervision of Dr. Mushtaq Khan & Dr. Jasvinder Singh. Prof. Altaf shah, Prof. G.M Gulzar, Prof. Nisar Choudhary were also present.

Besides faculty the workshop was attended by students who found the session enlightening and beneficial.
