Mid-Term CME Inaugurated at SKIMS
Srinagar 24 Jun., 2022: Mid-Term CME on Cancer & Non-Cancer Diseases of Biliary Tract was inaugurated today at SKIMS in presence of Hon’ble Advisor to Lt. Governor, Shri R. R. Bhatnagar, who was Chief Guest on the occasion. Shri H. K. Lohia, Special DGP, graced the occasion as Guest of Honor.
Hon’ble Advisor to Lt. Governor, Shri R. R. Bhatnagar, in his address lauded SKIMS for its role in the healthcare sector in J&K and said that the Institute provided best services to the people of J& K particularly in times of COVID from testing to treatment. He said the healthcare sector in J&K has progressed over a period of time where 07 Medical Colleges have been established and 02 AIIMS have started their operations in Jammu and Kashmir while 02 Cancer Specialized Institutes are also coming up in UT of J&K. J&K is one of the few states which is providing universal health scheme to people of J&K and who are getting benefitted from this Scheme, he added.
Shri Bhatnagar assured full support to the Administration of SKIMS and expressed hope that SKIMS will continue to serve the people of J&K and said today’s CME / Event will have a significant outcome through exchange and a better understanding of knowledge in specialized areas and would thus contribute to better healthcare delivery.
Guest of Honor, Shri H. K. Lohia (IPS) in his address appreciated the role of SKIMS in serving humanity and surviving in difficult circumstances.
Director SKIMS & EOSG in his address said that it is pleasure for SKIMS to host this mega event which is participated by luminaries across the country. He commended the contribution of medical luminaries of SKIMS especially Dr. S. Jalal and Dr. Omar Javid Shah, Ex-Directors of SKIMS, in shaping the Department of Surgical Gastroenterology at SKIMS and said Omar’s Technique is widely quoted which is a huge contribution to the field of Surgical Gastroenterology at world level. While highlighting the achievements of the Department, he said the department has a huge contribution in Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Diseases. He said the bile duct injuries which is focus of the current event require more hands-on courses, workshops / training.
Dean Medical Faculty, Prof. Tariq Gojwari, SKIMS, Spcl. Guest Prof. V. K. Kapoor (Director of HBP Surgery, MGMH Jaipur), President-Elect, Indian Association of Surgical Gastroenterology and Director GI Surgery, Sukara World Hospital, Prof. Sadiq S. Skora also spoke on occasion and in their respective addresses congratulated the Department of Surgical GE and organizing Chairperson, Prof. Sadaf Ali for organizing the event and said the event is of great importance where students, faculty will get benefitted through the exchange of knowledge and lectures by world-renowned faculty and guests. |
