“SKIMS Conducts 109th ELSA Operative Workshop on Laparoscopy”

Srinagar, 25th September, 2024: The 109th Endoscopic Laparoscopic Surgeons of Asia Operative Workshop and "Update on Minimally Invasive Surgery" was conducted at the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS).The event was organized by the Department of General and Minimal Invasive Surgery and focused on advancements in minimally invasive surgical techniques, with in-depth discussions on abdominal wall hernias and digestive surgeries led by renowned local and national experts.
Over 100 delegates attended the workshop, which featured insightful presentations, live demonstrations, and interactive sessions. The event culminated with a specialized training session at the Vet Lab in the Skill Development Centre SKIMS, designed for postgraduate students and fellows, offering hands-on experience in minimally invasive surgical techniques. The workshop provided an excellent platform for knowledge exchange, skill enhancement, and collaboration among surgeons from across the globe.
Director SKIMS and EOSG Prof. M. Ashraf Ganie hailed the department for conducting hands on training programs/activities which he said that such activities strengthen patient care and helps to remain abreast with new techniques in surgery & medicine.
HOD, Department of General & Minimal Invasive Surgery Prof. Ajaz Ahmad Malik, Prof.Munir Ahmad Wani  Dr. Anil Sharma,  Prof.Fazlul Qadir  Parray & Prof. Rauf A. Wani coordinated the event. Besides, Faculty from the Department of General and Minimal  Invasive Surgery including  Prof. Mubashir Shah, Dr.Natasha, Dr.Gowhar and Dr.Bilal,  International faculty Dr. Anil Sharma, Dr. D. Lomanto from Singapore,  Dr. Tuan Le Quan from Vietnam were part of the event.
