The department is fully equipped with state of the art diagnostic systems like echo Doppler, cardiac catheterization lab, electrophysiological system, stress tread mill system and holter monitoring system. Coronary and non coronary interventions including PTCA/Stenting, balloon dilatation of various lesions, shunt closure device placement, single chamber/dual chamber/ biventricular pacings, and ICD/ combo device insertions are being done routinely. The department is successfully running a post doctoral (DM) training programme recognised by MCI since 1994. 18 students have already passed out and most of them have joined as faculty in various institutions of the state, country and abroad. Six students are currently undergoing training. Besides this the faculty is also involved in guiding post graduate students for M.D medicine.

The department has recently installed a new state of the art echo Doppler system with adult/paediatric TEE and 3D capability in addition to routine adult/ paediatric transthoracic echo probes. The department has also acquired a new high end C-arm fluoroscope from Siemens AG Germany. This has greatly reduced the load on existing cath lab as most of the electrophysiological procedures including TPM, PPM’s and ICD’s are now being done on this system.
