DEPARTMENT OF NEUROLOGY The department of Neurology is a referral centre in the Valley of Kashmir catering to the referal of patietns of Neurological disorders from Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences Medical College, Govt. Medical College and Associated Hospitals and the Community in general. Medicl services are divided into In-patient and Out-patient categories. The In-patient services located on the 6th floor of SKIMS have amonthly turn over of hundreds of patients for short and long term admissions on a bed strength of 32. The referral Out-patient Clinic is run on twice weekly schedule with particular emphasis on evaluation and management of common neurological problems of epilepsy and stroke. The department also provides comprehensive diagnostic facilities in collaboration with departments of Microbiology, Pathology, Nuclear Medicine and Radiodiagnosis. The Labs. of Electroencephaolography and Electrophysiological studies belonging to the department provide daily services to in-patients and referral clinic patietns on modern equipment equipment run by well trained technical staff. Besides the routine graduate and post-graduate teaching, the department is working on various topics of research in the field of CNS infections and Stroke epidemiology. FACULTY
