Welcome to the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PMR). The Department is a large interdisciplinary team of Doctors, Physiotherapists, Nurses, and other professionals. This team works together in maximizing the health and functional ability of the people with disabilities. Thus converting people who would be otherwise resource burners into resource earners i.e. teaching patients to take care of themselves.
The holistic approach of our department means that disabled patient can enjoy all facets of rehabilitation under the responsibility of one single Department. The Department has recently been equipped with world class equipments for development of rehabilitation technology and capacity building. These include various electro diagnostic services such as:
- Digital Spinal and Knee Analyzer.
- Electro Diagnostic Services (EMG Bio-Feedback).
- Body Weight Supported Gait Trainer.
- Muscle Re-education (Functional Electrical Stimulation FES).
- Cervical Lumbar Traction.
- Laser Therapy.
- Ultrasound Therapy.
- Micro Wave Diathermy.
Patient Services
The Department of PMR functions in providing Out Patient and In Patient services for persons with physical / neurological impairments due to conditions such as:
- Spinal Cord Injury.
- Brain Injury due to Trauma & Other Causes.
- Stroke.
- Develop Mental Disorders such as Cerebral Palsy, Spinal Dysraphism.
- Amputations of the Extremities.
- Rheumatological Conditions.
- Hemophilia.
- Neuro Muscular Disorders.
- Chronic Pain.

In Patient Service
With four beds in Ward-7, the Department of PMR provides inpatients rehabilitation services to persons with different physical impairments coming from far off places every year. Among these, the common medical conditions necessitating in-patient rehabilitation are Spinal Cord Injury & Brain Injury.
Academics
The Department of PMR is imparting internship training to students after completion of MBBS and BSc Physiotherapy.

- Digital assessment of knee muscle strength in knee associated complaints.
- Digital assessment of spinal muscle strength in back associated complaints.
- Inflammatory back pain in LBA Patients.
