DEPARTMENT OF RADIO DIAGNOSIS & IMAGING

The Department of Radio diagnosis & Imaging enjoys a central position in this Apical Medical Institution and provides a 24 * 7 cover for the emergency patients reporting to this hospital. Apart from carrying out various diagnostic investigations, Interventional CT and Ultrasonography guided procedures are routinely performed. Specialized CT examinations angiography and CT Splenoportovenography with 3D reconstructions are also performed on day to day basis. Interdepartmental meetings on Nero-Radiography and Onco-Radiology are a regular feature. The Department is actively involved in conducting teaching of postgraduate postdoctoral students from the Departments of Radiation Oncology, Nuclear Medicine, Cardiothoracic Surgery, General Medicine and Gastroenterology. Apart from this, B.Sc. and M. Sc training courses in Radiation Sciences Technology are also being conducted. The Department is set to initiate the required formalities for starting a postgraduate Course in Radio diagnosis & Imaging.

The department is presently equipped with the following amenities:

• 1.5 Tesla Magnetic Resonance Imaging (IMR) system.
• 64-Slice CT Scan with facilities for Vascular and Cardiac Imaging.
• Whole Body Computed Tomography machine.
• Multi-detector CT Simulator with diagnosis & interventional facilities.
• Digital Radiography Machine with a flat panel.
• Colour Doppler Imaging System with High resolution and Intracavitary facilities.
• Ultrasonography machines in both the impatient and outpatient wings of the department having High resolution and Intracavitary facilities.
• Radiography machines in the Casualty, Polyclinic, Ward block and Main departmental areas.
• Portable Radiography machines; one in each floor.
