DEPARTMENT OF BIO-CHEMISTRY

The Department of Clinical Biochemistry in SKIMS offers several quality academic programmes in addition to providing all major laboratories services. The Department offers a programme leading to doctor of philosophy degree (Ph. D), Master of Science (MSc) Degree and Bachelor of Science (BSc) (MLT) in clinical Biochemistry. The faculty has designed a well balanced programme that can be individually tailored to meet every students interest and needs and fully prepare them for a carrier in academic or clinical Biochemistry related fields.

The breadth of research interests within the Department gives students an excellent opportunity for graduate training in many areas of biochemistry and molecular biology including:-

• Lipid Biochemistry
• Enzymology
• Intermediatary Metabolism
• Molecular Cancer Biology
• Molecular Basis of Various Diseases.

TEACHING ACTIVITIES

• Lectures, Tutorials, problem based learning, case oriented approach and hands on practical training in clinical chemistry for MBBS and BSc students.
• Lectures, Seminars, Journal clubs and detailed research technique oriented practical exercises for BSc, MSc, and Ph.D, Students.
• Dissertation for MSc and thesis work for MD, DM & Ph.D.
