Management Information Services

The Department of Management Information Services of Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences was established in December, 1980 and was first of its kind in the State of Jammu and Kashmir. Subsequently, the Department was merged with the Department of Electronics & Communication / Information Technology (E&C / IT) SKIMS which is presently headed by Er. Farooq Ahmad Wani, Superintending Engineer (E&C/IT) SKIMS.

Initially, the Department was looking after only the Personnel Data Bank, Recruitment Analysis, Equipment Maintenance and Pay-roll package.

The Local Area Network (LAN) at SKIMS has been installed in 2007 in all areas of the Institute by the Telecommunication Department of the Institute and areas like Medical Record, Wards, Labs, Administration and other Services areas have been connected to this network.

The Department is also assisting Director SKIMS Office, Policy Section, Personnel Section and Finance Wing of the Institute in preparing various reports.

Till November’2007, the official web site of the Institute was also being updated and maintained by the Management Information Services.
