19thPGRP Inaugurated at SKIMS

Srinagar 27/3/2015: 19th Postgraduate Research Presentation organized by Department of Urology inaugurated today at SKIMS Auditorium.

Director SKIMS Dr. S.A Zargar welcomed the chief guest Dr. Khurshid I. Indrabi, V.C Kashmir University and other guests present on the occasion. Dr. Zargar complimented Dr. Saleem Wani and his team for organizing the event. He said PGRP is unique to Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, conceived by former Director SKIMS, Prof. Syed Zahoor Ahmad, where all medical post-graduates and postdoctoral scholars, who have completed their dissertations / research thesis, present their work. He stressed on research, said it is key in medical field and new innovations are bring forth through research in medical science which is changing rapidly.

Dr. Khurshid I. Andrabi Vice chancellor Kashmir University who was chief guest on the occasion lauded SKIMS and organizing team for organizing such events of academic significance and appreciated students and scholars who will present their research during three day long programme.

Organizing Chairman & HOD, Urology Dr. Saleem Wani welcomed the guests and briefed about the event and its importance. He also thanked media for covering the event.

Dr. Saleem’s speech:

“This Event is a regular affair for the past 19 years, and is a much looked-forward-to research bonanza where the postgraduate and postdoctoral students of the institute and other sister institutions of the state get to show case their research. It provides an opportunity to our young budding Doctors and scientists not only to present their research work but also to learn the art of presenting scientific facts and defending them before a learned audience.
It has been a consistent success story from the SKIMS and the men and women pass outs of institute have fanned everywhere manning health care delivery systems from the primary level in the villages in Kashmir to some of the most celebrated institutions in the world. Be it a primary health center in Uri or a state-of the art center in Midwest America, you will find SKIMS pass out performing his office with efficiency. 
Parallel with the objective of producing quality manpower, SKIMS has been in the forefront of research that has not only been need based but has been path breaking too and in many instances has been the leading light for the world in many spheres.
To encourage doctors all the presentations during this conference will be assessed by a panel of expert judges and three best presentations in Medicine, surgery and super speciality branches will be awarded during the valedictory function”.

Dean Academics Dr. Gul Javid highlighted the academic achievements and expressed hope that the event will be useful activity for students who showcase their research work in presence of experts.

Dr Arif Hamid additional professor Urology and the organizing secretary welcomed the delegates and informed 120 research papers will be presented and the best three research papers will be awarded based on subject content, study design, statistical methodology presentation and time management.
