On behalf of the organizing committee, it is our proud privilege to invite you to the first ever "National Update on Bariatric/Metabolic Surgery" on 14th-15th September 2011. Bariatric Surgery is an upcoming field in the present day world. The concept is relatively new to the country in general and in our valley in particular. hereby on the part of the organizing committee of Department of General Surgery and Minimally invasive Surgery, SKIMS herby welcome all the delegates to this 2 day CME with LIVE operative workshop on Bariatric surgery. The fact that such a step has been taken for the first time in our valley makes it all the more important; both in terms of excitement and challenges associated with this new field. Though as of now we don't have too many patients in our valley that will fit the criteria for Bariatric surgery, but the epidemic of obesity is going to be a big challenge in the coming years. We hope that this conference will provide an opportunity to all the participants to discuss various issues pertaining to Bariatric Surgery. Guest lectures from a reputed and recognized Surgeon will enlighten us all.
