SKIMS celebrated International Nurses Day

(Mrs. Munira Bashir, faculty Nursing College SKIMS awarded National Florence Nightingale award)

Srinagar May 12, 2016:  Sheri-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences celebrated International Nurses day today to commemorate birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, pioneer of modern nursing. The inaugural function was followed by seminar focused on this year’s theme – improving health system resilience.

Director & EOSG SKIMS Dr. Showkat Zargar who was the chief guest on the occasion congratulated Mrs. Munira Bashir, faculty from Nursing College SKIMS on being felicitated by

President Pranab Mukherjee with National Florence Nightingale Award at Rashtrapati Bhavan today. He said SKIMS has made significant improvement in nursing management & and

stressed for continuous efforts on part of everyone to improve & strengthen patient care system at SKIMS.

Mrs Munira Bashir who received award for her contribution in the field of nursing  is sixth such professional at SKIMS  to receive the prestigious award.

Dr. Farooq Jan MS. SKIMS in his address highlighted role of nursing in patient care and said SKIMS patient care system has come a long way and has shown resilience in every challenging situation & disastrous circumstances. Role of SKIMS in providing rapid response during HINI epidemic last year & September floods is commendable, he added.

Nursing Superintendent Mrs. Haseena Wani welcomed the guests& congratulated Mrs Munira Bashir for given National Florence Nightingale award this year. She thanked SKIMS administration for support.

The function was attended by faculty SKIMS, nursing staff, nursing faculty & staff from associated hospitals.
