SKIMS Organises CME On " Precision Medicine in Allergic Disorders"

Srinagar 19th June: The department of Immunology & Molecular Medicine SKIMS today organised CME on " Precision Medicine in Allergic Disorders" as part of World Allergy Week Celebrations. In a two day event scientific sessions on a series of topics will be deliberated by leading experts from country.

Padma Shri Awardee & President ICAAI Prof. Digamber Behera who was chief guest on the occasion in his address gave detailed description and status of allergy diseases in India. He asserted for more focus on various aspects of allergy. He said that the field received little attention in the past but currently growing interest is picking pace and stressed for curriculum based and recognised training courses on Allergy Medicine.

Director SKIMS and EOSG Prof. Parvaiz A. Koul welcomed Prof. Digamber Behera & other guests and appreciated the organising committee for conducting the event . He said that Asthma is a big speciality and needs a lot of focus from both Allergists and Pulmonologists. The scientific sessions by leading experts will give in-depth insights about the subject and current trends in the field, he added. Prof. Koul also recalled the services of former faculty Late Prof. Shamsuddin, Late Prof. Salahuddin and Prof. Mushtaq Siddiqui in shaping the department.

Special Guest Prof. P K Vedanthan, Chairman IAS , Colorado USA in his virtual address hailed the department of Immunology & Molecular Medicine for excellent work in the field of Allergy Medicine. He said statistics clearly demonstrate the excellent functioning of the department where ten thousand patients have been evaluated and two thousand patients have received allergy Immunotherapy.

Prof. Gayatri Pandit, President Allergy Asthma Network of India also spoke on the occasion and thanked the organising committee for conducting the program which she said is significant for betterment of society.

Dean Medical Faculty SKIMS Prof. Bashir A Laway in his address thanked guests & faculty across country for attending the event. He said as Endocrinologist he has witnessed Insulin Allergy in patients and appreciated the experts at SKIMS in managing the same.

Head of the Department & Organising Chairman of the event Prof. Zafar Amin Shah welcomed the guests and gave details of the program in which experts will discuss various aspects of the Allergy Medicine in various scientific deliberations, he added. Prof. Shah while giving the details of the functioning of Department of Immunology & Molecular Medicine said that the department has expanded and is equipped with the latest facilities and the best human resources available.

Prof. Roohi Rasool & Organising Secretary thanked all guests, faculty, media and supportive services at SKIMS for facilitating the event and useful contribution. Prof. Roohi also thanked Director SKIMS for support and appreciation.
