Department of Hospital Administration SKIMS conducted a Fire Safety training & Mock Drill in collaboration with Fire & Emergency Department SKIMS  to deliver first response & subsequent action in case of any fire incident in the hospital.

The security personnel were taught fire prevention, protection & suppression techniques. They were demonstrated use of all types of fire extinguishers, hydrants & hose reels, fire suits with breathing apparatus & other fire fighting equipment, to fight all kinds of fires. The Faculty InchargeSecuirty / Nodal Officer Fire Safety Dr. Samina Mufti & Divisional Fire Officer Mr. Noor-ul- Alam from the Department of Fire & Emergency delivered lectures & team members from Fire & Emergency Department as well as SKIMS Security collaboratively taught the use of fire equipments.
The importance of keeping fire escape routes, extra mural roads cleared, evacuation protocols practiced and maintenance of fire extinguishers were also emphasized  upon trainees.
Srinagar is a tertiary care institute of UT of J&K which has 1015 beds with occupancy of around 80%. SKIMS has a “Fire safety Committee” in place and fire safety measures are reviewed & practiced regularly. The fire safety measures are of critical importance in hospital management.
