DEPARTMENT OF ENDOCRINOLOGY

The Department of Endocrinology has been established as one of the first Departments, dedicated to patient care and research work in the field of Endocrinology, Metabolism, and Diabetes. The Department faculty is trained from prestigious AIIMS New Delhi and PGI Chandigarh. In addition to routine patient care, the Department has started the DM programme from 2011 onwards with an intake capacity of two per session. Department is one of the busiest services in the outpatient setting. Department in the past has published many epidemiological studies on Iodine deficiency, diabetes mellitus and Sheehan’s Syndrome. The research activities of the Department in the recent past included details about haematological and cardiac abnormalities in Sheehan’s Syndrome, genetic studies in DIDMOAD Syndrome, Hypothyroidism and Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and Vitamin-D status and diabetes and polycystic ovary syndrome to name a few.

DEPARTMENTAL SERVICES

Endocrine and Pediatric Endocrine Clinic: The Department is running an Outpatient Endocrine Clinic on daily basis in Room No. 159 and 160 and a Pediatric Endocrine Clinic on Saturdays.

Diet Counselling: This facility is available on daily basis in Room No. 170 where highly trained Dieticians and Nutritionists interact with the patients.

HbA1C: The facility for estimation of HbA1C is available on daily basis. Samples are collected and reports dispatched on the same day.

RESEARCH ACTIVITIES:  Currently many research projects on Type-1 Diabetes, Sheehan’s Syndrome, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), metabolic syndrome, hyperprolactinemia and Vitamin-D and diabetes are in progress.

Has been actively involved in patient care, research and  teaching. He is currently working in the department of Endocrinology and Metabolism maintaining  lien with parent department. He is DM/MD/PhD guide at SKIMS and AIIMS New Delhi.

He is past Executive and current associate Editor of  Indian Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism. He is been appointed President of MP-PCOS Society. He has been working in Diabetes and Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). He has received numerous  national & International awards including AZZIZ Buamgartner AE-PCOS award and MMS Ahuja Best  outgoing DM scholar award from AIIMS New Delhi.

He has more than 130  national and international publications and is reviewer of many peer reviewed journals. He more than 15 funded research projects.
