DEPARTMENT OF NEPHROLOGY

The Department of Nephrology is the only tertiary care centre for kidney diseases in the Sate of Jammu & Kashmir. It is a centre where all the known renal replacement therapies transplantation, hemodialysis (HD) and continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis is provided to the patients of kidney disease.
In addition to the various renal replacement therapies and in-patient services, the department has its own ward laboratory and runs out-patient services Nutritionists provide diet counseling admitted patients and OPD patients.


The department is involved in the under-graduate training programme for SKIMS Medical College, Bemina, post-graduate training at SKIMS itself and also the department is actively in Medical Education Programme run at different levels in the institute. Twelve post-graduate studies are guided for pursuit of their degree in the department at a given time. Research is conducted in various fields of Nephrology and scientific papers published in international and national magazines.
