DEPARTMENT OF NEONATOLOGY & PEDIATRICS

The Department of Neonatology is the Level-II and Level-III Intensive Care Unit. The cases of severe Birth Asphyxia, Septicemia with Organ Failure, Low Birth Weight, Prematurity, Pathological Hyperblirubenemia, Polycythemia and other Metabolic Disorder Patients referred from different Hospitals of the valley are being managed by us.

The Department is providing advanced life support for neonates. In addition, we are running comprehensive Paediatric Care (along with Level-II and Level-III care for paediatric patients).

The Postgraduate Programme is running successfully in the Department and is recognized by the erstwhile MCI (Medical Council of India). The Department has an intake capacity of seven (07) students. The students besides working in Pediatrics & Neonatology are also exposed to various sub-specialties in the Institute and gain a broad perspective of sub-specialty care.

Undergraduate teaching in Paediatric Department of SKIMS Medical College students are also being given in the Department.

3)   Cystic Fibrosis in Children – Clinical Profile & CFTR Gene Nitrites.
4)   Erythropocetin in Perinatal Asphyxie.
