DEPARTMENT OF PLASTIC, RECONSTRUCTIVE AND MICROSURGERY

The Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery is one of the largest in Government sector in the country boasting of a robust faculty strength of 9 faculty members. The Department routinely in addition to performing all Plastic Surgical procedures has a heavy load of Hand and Microsurgical cases which includes free tissue transfers as well as re-implantations. The Department on an average performs around 3500 surgeries annually half of which are usually emergencies. Being equipped with the latest Pentero version of the Operating Microscope, the microsurgical armamentarium consists of multiple Ziess operating loupes and an enhanced quantity and variety of microsurgical instruments.  On the academic front, the department has a good reputation in Northern India and is recognized for MCh courses by the National Medical Commission. The intake capacity of MCh candidates per year is two and till date 25 candidates have already passed out. In the year 2020, the Department received a shot in the arm by getting recognition for FNB in Hand and Microvascular Surgery with an intake capacity of 2 per year, being only the second Plastic Surgery Department in the country to start the course.  On the research front about 200 publications in international and national journals have gone out from the Department. It has been a regular feature to send the faculty for higher training in the country and abroad and as well sponsor the Residents for conferences or academic events within the country. A state of art 17 bedded Burn Unit with OT, ICCU and Lab facilities has also been commissioned recently.
