INTRODUCTION AND MANDATE:

To effectively monitor the activities relating to Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoH&FW), Government of India, Medical Council of India (NMC), National Board of Examination (NBE) and J&K BOPEE, SKIMS Administration accorded approval to the establishment of NMC Cell of SKIMS on 21st March 2018.

Primarily, the NMC Cell is responsible for carrying out the following functions:

* To keep track of the day-to-day developments in Ministry of Health & Family welfare, Medical Council of India, National Board of Examination & J&K BOPEE with regard to issuance of notification/s for introduction/starting of new courses/enhancement of Undergraduate/Postgraduate/Post-doctoral seats in various disciplines by surfing through web on daily basis.
* To look after the activities pertaining to conduct of NMC / NBE inspections leading to the recognition /award of various degrees offered at Graduate, Post-graduate & Post-doctoral level at skims.
* To facilitate the admission process at UG / PG / SS Level.
* To perform any other function/s as may be necessary for academic upliftment of SKIMS.
* To coordinate with designated Nodal Officer, NMC for SKIMS Medical College, Bemina in relation to matters pertaining to SKIMS Medical College, Bemina.

As per the notification issued by Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, vide its Notification No. S.O. 3262(E) Dated 24-09-2020, the Medical Council of India New Delhi has been replaced with National Medical Commission (NMC). Consequently, the nomenclature of NMC Cell SKIMS has been changed from NMC Cell SKIMS to National Medical Commission Section SKIMS (NMCSS) vide Office Order No. SIMS 232 (P) of 2020 Dated November 12, 2020.
